Where I come from

I come from a background in graphic and visual design, with a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art and experience spanning both creative and commercial disciplines, including media, marketing, and publishing. Much of my early career focused on visual communication—designing layouts, brands, and content where clarity, consistency, and attention to detail were essential. Alongside this work, I also spent several years in veterinary medicine in client-facing and clinical support roles, an experience that required precision, accountability, and a high level of care in situations where the stakes were real and often emotional.

What shaped my approach

What ultimately drew me to UX/UI design wasn’t a sudden shift, but a realization. The qualities I relied on most in both design and veterinary settings—empathy, attentiveness, problem-solving, and ethical responsibility—sat at the core of UX. Working in veterinary environments especially reshaped how I think about trust and decision-making. When people are stressed, scared, or overwhelmed, the way information is communicated and actions are taken matters. Looking back, I was already practicing core UX behaviors: observing behavior, listening carefully, and responding thoughtfully to real human needs—even before I had the language to name it.

How that shows up in my work today

Studying UX/UI gave me that language and the structure I’d been missing. It helped me be more intentional about decisions I once made intuitively, grounding them in research, testing, and accessibility considerations. Today, I’m pursuing a UX/UI career where empathy, clarity, and thoughtful execution are foundational—not aspirational. I bring focus, curiosity, and care into my work, along with a strong sense of responsibility to the people on the other side of the experience. This portfolio represents alignment rather than reinvention: a way of practicing design that finally reflects how I think, work, and care.
